Web Developer / Programmer - Manila, Philippines

We are hiring a full time website developer / programmer located in Manila to add to our international team of professionals. Our company has been providing website development and online marketing services to clients in the US, Europe, Canada and Mexico who are primarily in the scientific and medical equipment industries for the past 9 years. We offer a competitive base wage, monthly set compensation, plus bonuses for completing special projects we assign ahead of schedule. You will have the flexibility to work from your home office, and therefore must be properly equipped to do so with the hardware and software needed to accomplish the tasks.
The successful candidate will have strong experience and programming skills with the following web technologies:
- PHP
- CSS
- MySQL
- Apache
- Flash Action Script 2.0 (minimal)
- Java
- AJAX
Candidates with a strong knowledge of the Content Management System (CMS) Joomla! will be given preference. So please submit any links to Joomla websites you have completed, along with the proof that it was your work, ex. your name in meta tag. Your position will involve building Joomla website templates from mock ups provided by our graphic design team that works with the clients. You will also be required to modify existing Joomla extensions and components heavily, and build them from scratch.
Knowledge of scheduled unix cron jobs will also be an asset to automate many of the existing web admin tasks we currently do manually. Also related to that is web scraping / data extraction, both setting it up and automating the scheduling.
Fluent English language speaking and writing skills are a must, as you will be reporting to English speaking project managers on a daily basis. You will be required to video conference with your project manager and team mates (designers, data entry etc.) using an online meeting and collaboration tool such as DimDim or GoToMeeting.. You will be required to log your time with our online project management tool each time you start or end a task.
Our project managers are experienced in managing remote staff and are active on all major outsourcing websites. They know when a team member is performing work for another company, or handing off our work to another individual, and none of this will be tolerated.
